Petunia is a staple bedding plant and millions are sold every year – so why avoid them?

They are very demanding plants, they need regular watering, feeding, deadheading, aphid squashing and in addition the leaves feel sticky and are not nice to touch.


If you don’t religiously preen these plants they quickly behave like stroppy teenagers as opposed to the pretty party princess you thought you had!


We haven’t used petunias in any of our small garden designs – but we do use lots of other plants that are much better (we think).
