There is a huge variety of Iris to choose from, some being small alpine varieties to wetland plants and those that grow happily pretty much anywhere.


We tend to use the herbaceous variety – Sibiricae, as it grows well in most gardens and soils as long as it doesn’t get too dry. Having said that the purple one shown is from my garden and it is thriving in hot dry spot in rubbish soil – so they are a good plant to have in any garden.


We tend to use Irises rather than Lillies in our designs, although they don’t have a scent, they are much less bother and have just as beautiful flowers.
