If you love big leaves then you’ll love hostas. These are plants that die down in the winter and then reemerge in the spring with lovely luscious leaves in greens and blues and yellows. They have a lush jungle tropical quality to them, even though they are quite happy in Britain’s less warm climate!
However, the one bug bear with them are gastropods, slugs and snails – they love eating hosta’s. In fact hostas’s are so tasty they will happily consume the whole thing given half a chance.
Before you sit there and think – that’s it no way, too much trouble or you reach for the slug pellets, there are plenty of effective ways to keep gastropods away. There are bug remedies available that don’t kill everything else.
