Bergenia; Elephants Ears:
Bergenia’s aren’t really stunning sexy, ‘look at me’ plants. However, just because they aren’t big and blousy and demand attention – they shouldn’t be ignored.
These plants are real performers for places where other plants struggle, they have great big ‘elephant ear’ like leaves all year and then they throw up pretty little flower spikes in spring. But their real party piece is that the large leaves cut out light – so making it expremely difficult for the weeds to get hold!
There is a white variety called ‘Bressingham White’ which we think is great, but you can also get them in pinks and purples.
