Agave american variegata 



Agave’s have toothed spiny leaves and a spike tip that is so sharp that will enter your buttock cheek through several layers of protective clothing!


Why grow a plant that will poke your eye out?  

On top of that, they have to be protected from frost, so maybe bought inside – great spikes inside the house for winter!


So apologies to lovers of these ‘architectural plants’ we prefer plants in small gardens that don’t fight back!

Try a phormium instead

We haven’t used Agave in any of our small garden designs – but we do use lots of other plants that are much better (we think).
