Obviously this isn’t a totally comprehensive list, but all these are really good garden centres or nurseries where you can buy high quality plants and get lots of great advice on specific plants.

Architectural Plants: For unusual, exotic and just plain fantastic plants.

Ashwood Nurseries: Specialities include woodland plants & winter flowering plants.

Beth Chatto Gardens & Nursery: What they don’t know about plants, isn’t worth knowing!

Binny Plants: Situated between Glasgow & Edinburgh, all their plants will happily grow ‘up north’

Bluebell AboretumFor lots of lovely trees and other stuff.

Burncoose Nurseries: Based in Cornwall, they have thousands of plant, especially acid loving rhodo’s and camellias

Chipchase Castle Nursery: For plants that grow in really cold places (Northumberland)

Claire Austin Hardy Plants: For Peonies (every kind you can think of), perennials and plants for clay soils.

Crug Farm Plants: For plants you didn’t even know existed & others you might recognise!

Duchy of Cornwall Nurseries: Lots of trees and shrubs inc conifers, magnolias, bamboos & fuschias.

Hardys Cottage Garden Plants: One of the most well known (and winner of lots of Chelsea medals) so they must be good.

Edulis: Especially for snowdrop lovers!

Fibrex Nurseries: Specialities include hardy ferns, pelargoniums & ivy.

Keepers Nursery: For all your fruit and nut needs.

Kelways: Iris & Peony specialists and lots more.

Knolls Gardens: Pretty much one of the best suppliers of all types of grasses there are.

Long Acre Plants: If your garden is a shady one, then this nursery is packed with shade loving plants.

Mickfield Hostas: Spookily, you might find the odd hosta here.

Peter Beales Roses: If you are a lover of all roses, you’ll find most of them here.

The Place for Plants: For herbaceous plants, cornus, acers and magolias.

Rose Cottage Plants: Spring bulbs, summer bulbs and lots of other sorts of bulbs!

Special Perennials: They sell some of our favourite types of plants – geums being one!

Thorncroft Clematis: If clematis are your thing, then you won’t find more varieties than here.

Twelve Nunns: As well as mature plants you can buy plug plants here to.
