Ranunculus

Ranunculus; Buttercup:

The image shown is of R. ficaria, one of the buttercup family and is probably the most invasive.

However some ranunculus are really pretty plants BUT they do need a space all to themselves really.

Ranunculus spreads via underground roots, so if you have a wild patch or a moist ground, these look lovely en masse – but a pain if they get into and around other plants as they are difficult to get rid of.

We have used a buttercup in one of our designs, but we use the non invasive variety, R.acris ‘Flore Pleno’ – don’t get the wrong version!
