Physostegia; Obedient Plant:
Physostegia is called the obedient plant because it stands up straight not because it does what it’s told!
It does spread, but not ridiculously so, it forms a sort of root mat just below the surface of the soil.
Removal is relatively easy, except where this ‘mat;’ has entwined itself around the base of other plants. However, it is pretty, it doesn’t damage or swamp other plants too much, but planting it next to dainty low growing plants would not be the best idea.
