These grow easily in most places, so in your lush improved garden soil that means they grow really fast and spread a lot faster!


Comfrey makes great fertiliser and poultices have been used for millennia to heal bones and bruises, but it’s a rather ugly plant.


If you really do want to grow Comfrey for it’s fertiliser properties, best to keep it contained in a sturdy pot…and once you add the comfrey to your water bucket to ferment it, make sure you have a good seal on the lid – it pongs!  

We haven’t used Comfrey in any of our small garden designs – but we do use lots of other plants that are much better (we think).
