Autumn Crocus; Colchicum:
Colchicum or Autumn Crocus is actually quite poisonous, so although pretty in the garden, you need to wash you hands after handling them.
Having said that, most gardens will have Colchicums in them and you don’t hear of many poisoning stories in the news, but you do need to be aware. If you would prefer not to have these, then you can use cyclamen as a replacement.
We haven’t used Colchicum in any of our small garden designs – but we do use lots of other plants that are much better (we think).
